During Nintendo's 2017 E3 Spotlight, a brand-new Kirby game was announced for the Switch! With a tentative title of just Kirby, it follows the footsteps of Planet Robobot and Triple Deluxe as a 2D sidescroller.
The most notable thing about the trailer is that the game features the return of Helpers from Super Star and Super Star Ultra. The act of creating Helpers has been given a facelift, however, as Kirby only has to lob a heart at eligible enemies. Up to four players can join in at once, making it reminiscent of Return to Dream Land, and even the unreleased Kirby for Game Cube.
The trailer also focuses on mixing abilities together, as Kirby is shown gaining fire properties to the Sword ability, water to Bomb, etc. Will this be a true return to the mix system from Kirby 64? Or will it be more subtle like in Squeak Squad? The existence of the Curling Stone ability (Ice + Stone) in the trailer seems to suggest the former.
It's worth mentioning that we're most likely seeing an early build of the game in this trailer as the game doesn't have a title, and some parts (especially the bit of the overworld map) don't seem to have the same level of polish as others just yet, so things are only gonna get better over time. If you haven't already seen it, check out the trailer below!
